Refund policy

Overview

Corkin wants you to be happy with your purchase. This Return & Refund Policy explains how to request returns, which items are eligible, how refunds are handled, and special rules that apply to wine and alcoholic beverages.

Key rules: summary

  • You have 30 days from the date you receive your order to request a return (see exceptions below).
  • For customers in the European Union you also have the statutory 14-day cooling-off right for distance contracts (explained below).
  • Opened bottles cannot be returned unless the product is defective, damaged in transit, or we shipped the wrong item.
  • To start a return, contact returns@corkin.nl. For general questions, use hello@corkin.nl.

How to start a return

Email returns@corkin.nl within 30 days of receiving your order and include:

  • Your order number
  • The item(s) you want to return
  • The reason for the return (e.g., wrong item, damaged in transit, changed your mind)
  • Photos if the item is damaged or incorrect

We will evaluate your request and respond within a few business days with return instructions.

Do not send items back without prior authorisation. Items returned without prior authorisation will not be accepted.

If your return is accepted, we will:

  • Provide a return shipping label and instructions
  • Explain whether the return shipping cost will be covered by Corkin or deducted from the refund (see "Who pays return shipping?" below)

Who pays return shipping?

If the return is due to our error (defective item, damaged in transit, wrong item): Corkin will cover return shipping costs and will refund the product price and any original shipping charges.

If you are returning for any other reason (e.g., changed your mind, wrong size): you are responsible for return shipping costs unless we explicitly state otherwise. In many such cases, we can provide a pre-paid label and deduct the return shipping cost from the refund. We will make this clear when we authorise the return.

Condition of returned items

To be eligible for a refund, items must be returned in the same condition you received them:

  • Unopened and sealed (for wines, the bottle seal must be intact)
  • With original packaging, labels, and any accessories
  • With the receipt or proof of purchase

Opened bottles are not eligible for return except where the bottle is defective, damaged during shipping, or we shipped the wrong product. In those cases, please send clear photos and keep the packaging for inspection.

Exceptions / non-returnable items

We cannot accept returns of:

  • Opened bottles (see above for defects/wrong item exception)
  • Perishable goods (where applicable)
  • Custom, personalised, or made-to-order products
  • Hazardous materials, flammable liquids or gases
  • Sale items and gift cards (unless local consumer law requires otherwise)

If you are unsure whether your item is returnable, contact returns@corkin.nl before sending it.

Damages and issues: inspect on delivery

Please inspect your order upon receipt. If the item is defective, damaged in transit, or you received the wrong item:

  • Contact returns@corkin.nl immediately (include order number and photos)
  • Keep all packaging and the product: we may request it for inspection

We will investigate and, if validated, arrange a replacement or full refund and cover return shipping.

EU 14-day cooling-off right (consumers) and EU consumer law (Directive 2011/83/EU)

Cancelling before shipment

You may cancel your order at any time before it has been fulfilled and dispatched. Contact us as quickly as possible at hello@corkin.nl or by WhatsApp at +31 683500003 with your order number. If your order has not yet been handed to the carrier, we will cancel it and issue a full refund at no cost to you.

If your order has already been dispatched by the time we receive your cancellation request, we are unable to stop the shipment. In that case, your withdrawal right applies from the date you receive the goods (see below).

Withdrawing after receipt

You have the right to withdraw from your order within 14 days of receiving it, for any reason and without giving a justification. To exercise this right, notify us within those 14 days by email at hello@corkin.nl, by WhatsApp at +31 683500003, or by using our cancellation form at corkin.nl/pages/cancel-or-return.

Please note that Corkin's own return window is 30 days from receipt, which exceeds the statutory minimum. Opened bottles cannot be returned unless defective, regardless of the return window.

If the last day of the withdrawal or return period falls on a weekend or public holiday, the deadline extends to the next working day.

Returned items must be in the same condition as received, unopened and sealed, and accompanied by proof of purchase.

Important: The withdrawal right does not apply if the bottle seal has been broken, unless the bottle is defective or we shipped the wrong item. For opened bottles with a quality issue, contact us directly.

Exchanges

We do not offer direct item-for-item exchanges online. The fastest way to get a replacement is to:

  • Return the original item (following the process above)
  • Place a new order for the item you want

Refunds. Timing and method

After we receive and inspect your return, we will notify you of the outcome.

  • If approved, we will refund the purchase price to the original payment method.
  • Refunds will generally be processed within 10 business days after we approve the return. Your card issuer or bank may take additional time to post the refund.
  • If more than 15 business days have passed since approval and you do not see the refund, contact hello@corkin.nl.

Refunds for returned items may exclude any original shipping charges unless the return is due to our error.

Return address

Please do not send returns before authorisation. When a return is authorised, we will provide a return address. If you need to send an item to us and a return label is not provided, use the following address once you have authorisation:

Lost or missing returns

We are not responsible for returned packages lost in transit if you use an unsupervised carrier or do not obtain tracking. Always use a tracked shipping method or ask us for a label. If you use a pre-paid label provided by us, we will track the shipment and notify you of receipt.
