General

We sell wines from artisanal producers. People who believe in their work, know their land, and often are re-evaluating what their region is capable of. No shortcuts, no chemistry, no hiding behind trends.

The world of wine is enormous. We believe the only way to select, sell and talk about wine properly is to visit the producers personally. Marko travels across Italy constantly, visiting around 150 wineries a year. We know Italy well. We'd rather do that properly than spread ourselves thin across ten countries.

Marko visits producers directly, in their vineyards and cellars. Not from a catalogue, not at a trade fair. He sits at their tables, tastes from the tank, and decides from there. Around 150 wineries a year. The wines you find on corkin.nl are the ones that made it through that process.

On the Haarlem side, Simo handles everything else: orders, shipping, and occasionally delivering to your door personally.

Honest answer: writing "natural wine" would probably help with sales. The producers we work with are, in the common understanding of the term, natural wine producers. But the word natural has no legal definition and no regulation behind it. That gap has been filled by some people who started making wine without much expertise and hid the results behind words like "art" and "passion."

We believe in artisanship instead. Competence, study, tradition, territory. Elements that together produce wines worth drinking, without chemistry, and with decisions taken carefully at every step.

Organic certification for wine allows quite a lot of intervention in the winemaking process. Legally. It does not mean what most people think it means.

As for the €5 bottle, we think we know how that's possible. It's probably not the right place to get into it. We are always happy to meet for a glass and talk about it. We bring the wine.

The producers we work with use zero or very little added chemistry. That makes their wines more fragile than what you might be used to. Most unusual aromas appear in the first few minutes after opening and disappear once the wine breathes a little. Give it ten minutes before deciding.

If the wine seems genuinely faulty rather than just unfamiliar, that is rare but it happens. Get in touch and we will sort it out. A replacement is always on the table.
