Colli Tortonesi Rosso

Oltretorrente is the project of Matteo and Chiara, who built their winery in Colli Tortonesi from scratch, without inheriting vineyards. This red comes mainly from Barbera, with Dolcetto in the blend, in a corner of southeast Piemonte better known for Timorasso. It tastes like people who chose a place and then listened to it.
 
This is a food wine in the most Italian sense. Medium-bodied, fresh, with tannins that stay polite. Meat dishes work, but so do mushrooms, lentils, roasted vegetables and aged cheese.
