Someone once said (sorry, I don’t remember who, so I can’t quote them) that Dolcetto is for the “intellectual middle class”. I strongly agree. It’s a wine that today feels “anti-commercial,” yet it’s delicious. We are in Dogliani, in Piemonte, one of its prime areas, where good buddy Francesco produces this wine with excellent complexity and great authenticity. As true Piedmontese, we are very fond of this native grape variety. “Dolcetto” in Italian means sweet, but no, Dolcetto is actually a dry wine!
