Dolcetto Dogliani

Dolcetto in Italian sounds sweet, but this is a dry red from Dogliani in Piemonte. Francesco makes it in one of the areas where this grape really belongs. It is not the fashionable bottle on the table, and that is part of the charm. A little anti-commercial, very Piemontese.
 
It has body without becoming heavy, and it knows how to behave with food. Rich soups, bold antipasti, pasta, salumi, all fine. A real multitasker, the kind of red you open and then wonder why people forgot about Dolcetto.
