Carema Rosso

There's always a debate about whether Carema is part of Alto Piemonte or not. What’s certain is that we are in Piemonte, in the last village before Valle d’Aosta. Chiussuma is a tiny winery producing wine in a truly fascinating area. The vineyards are terraced into the mountains, with pergolas supported by the characteristic Pilun.

Only a very limited number of CAREMA DOC bottles are produced—around 2,000. Here, Nebbiolo reigns as the dominant grape of the appellation (with a small presence of white varieties).

The wines are graceful, delicate, and elegant, with tannins that are less imposing than their cousins from the Langhe. This is a lighter, more Pinot Noir-like expression of Nebbiolo—a unique and rare wine.
