Going out of season to visit the best value Barolo?

Feb 08, 2024

Nowadays, going to Barolo, especially during the high season periods, i.e., late spring, summer, and especially during the truffle fair, has become a real nightmare. There is no parking, restaurants are full, and there are queues everywhere even in bars.

Marko went in mid-February, and finally, it was empty. Wonderful.

He took a stroll to Brezza, a historic winery that is rarely talked about. They produce Barolo in some of the most renowned areas like Sarmassa and Cannubi. Their wines are always excellent, and most importantly, they don't follow the crazy wave of price increases that unfortunately is happening for many wines in the area.

PS: Even the winemakers are much more relaxed during these “low” periods. Thank you very much for the hospitality, Enzo Brezza!
